Biography:
Konrad Kassal was born on the upper levels to Coruscant, to a senator's aide and his wife, in what should have been an idyllic life where the air was clean and the residents could see the sun rise. His mother raised him, and his brother Shaun, on tales of the valiant Jedi Knights; defenders of all the was good and just. He grew to idolize them, even more so after his mother told him that her family had a long history of Force users.
However, any hopes or dreams of one day defending the galaxy or even having a normal childhood were cut short. His father has a gambling addiction, getting into deep debt with a Hutt cartel on the lower levels. To this day Konrad does not know if his father flipped a coin to decide which child or simply chose to keep his favorite son, but eldest child was sold into indentured servitude to pay the debts. Though slavery was illegal in Republic space, in the lower levels the law is more theoretical than practical in its enforcement.
To say that this turn of events was traumatic for the child would be an understatement. For months he held out hope each night that the a jedi knights would come through at any moment to save him, that his infallible heroes would not abandon him to his fate. When months turned to years, he lost his hope as well, the naivety replaced by bitterness, and the bitterness eventually replaced by rage. Ironically the Jedi did come for one of the Kassals, his brother Shawn, who had begun to display Force sensitivity a few months after Konrad's involuntary departure.
For over a decade he toiled in the dark, in a criminal underworld where life was worth little and a slave's even less. His existence was nightmarish, soul-crushing, degradation. He fed of his anger and bitterness, learning quickly that he was the only one he could rely on, his own power. No saber-wielding knight was coming from him. During periods of rage, objects would sometimes shatter without explanation.
A couple months ago there was a massacre in an underground gambling den; with every man woman and child inside brutally slain. A suspect was never found, but around the same time a new fighter turned up in The Pit and began to make a name for himself.
